Wood Wall Art: Screech Owl in a Hickory Tree

There was an unusual knot in this piece of hickory, right between the heartwood and sapwood. In it I saw an eastern screech owl, hiding in plain sight. The screech owl is cut out of sycamore, with yellowheart accents. The leaves are layers of mahogany and maple, hand-dyed to give some color.
