Celebrate the trees of North America with this magnet honoring the most widely distributed tree in North America. Quaking Aspen (Populus tremuloides) is found across the entirety of northern North America, spanning from coast to coast.
Known for it's golden fall color and dense groves, it's name comes from the way the leaves "shake" in light breezes. Quaking aspen spreads through it's roots, creating clones of the original tree. One such close, known as Pando, is the heaviest and oldest living organism on the planet!
They are the state tree of Utah.
Design
These magnets are made from solid aspen. The wood's natural and unique beauty of the wood is allowed to shine with a clear finish.
You might notice the backs of these are a different wood: due to the softness of aspen, the magnet would be fragile without the support of something harder. In this case, hard maple was chosen for strength and similar light color. The backs always have the name of the tree engraved, while the fronts can come in a variety of styles. Find the one that matches your personality!
Note: as these are handmade items made from natural wood, there is a wide array of appearance in the magnets. Some are flat, some are curved, and the grain itself varies in color and detail. If you have a particular style you'd like, please add it as a note in your cart and I'll do my best to accommodate you!
