Custom Web Application
- The Task
Develop a web-based tool for managing customers, sales leads, job progress, and other aspects of a small, custom audio/video company.
- The Challenge
The owner of the company had a basic idea of how he wanted the information presented. There was a lot of custom information that off-the-shelf products didn't provide. Beyond that, many off-the-shelf solutions were overly complicated for the simple needs of this company.
- The Solution
Using the original spreadsheet as a starting point, I developed a complete web-based application. The application allowed multiple users with different privledges to use the system simultaneously, as well as provided at-a-glance summaries of the current, incoming, and completed jobs.
I built the application from the ground up, and this allowed me to build in printable forms that can be taken out to job sites, add in mapping capabilities via Google Maps, and limit the information to that which is actually used by the company.
